Goals Of The Russian Air Strikes In Syria

su-24 bomberThe Russian Air Forces began active strikes in Syria against positions of ISIS and Al Qaeda allies. All this happened right after president Putin spoke at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday Sept 28th. Russia has been preparing for this in the last weeks and it was a matter of time to take an active role in the conflict. The actions fully comply with international law.

Russia will not participate in ground operations. They will support the existing Syrian army of president Assad plus anyone who takes part in a larger anti-terrorist coalitions (Kurds, Iraq, Iran, Hezbollah units).

ISIS – The New Old Terrorist Threat

obamaThe world leaders are debating these days about whether they have to join forces against this “new” enormous terrorist threat called ISIS that apparently “has appeared from nowhere”. The United States have already started to bomb some ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria but now the conversations are about bigger coalition against this new big enemy.

The uninformed public is watching the news, sees how radical islamists execute people and the officials, well, they take advantage of all this.

Syria having hard time

Syria is taking hits from everywhere.

USA refused to initiate a military intervention because Syria has much more military equipment than Libya and will be expensive to beat. The decision seems to be good as long as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are becoming a new Vietnam War for the States.

Turkey became an enemy of Syria with the introduction of its imperialist political doctrine and the years of cooperation between the two countries were forgotten.
