The Russian Air Forces began active strikes in Syria against positions of ISIS and Al Qaeda allies. All this happened right after president Putin spoke at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday Sept 28th. Russia has been preparing for this in the last weeks and it was a matter of time to take an active role in the conflict. The actions fully comply with international law.
Russia will not participate in ground operations. They will support the existing Syrian army of president Assad plus anyone who takes part in a larger anti-terrorist coalitions (Kurds, Iraq, Iran, Hezbollah units).
What is most likely to happen in the next week is a default of Greece. That means the country will be officially bankrupt. This is the news that makes all main headlines lately. But despite that Greece has been a main discussion topic over the last years very few people seem to understand what is going on and what are the real stakes.
Like with almost all main discussion topics people are fed with crap that suites one side or the other without even touching the surface of the real game that’s going on.
After more than a year of civil war and bloodshed in South-Eastern Ukraine, the government in Kiev has to make a choice on what to do in the near future. The country is in a state of bankruptcy, the streets of Kiev are full of so called “patriotic” battalions who are actually neo-Nazis, people have no money to even buy essentials like food and medicine. While the government is still pledging that the EU and the US are going to help and Ukraine is going to turn into a paradise, the people in Ukraine start to feel like they were misled, as they truly were. So, the government has several options:
Yesterday was May 9th 2015 – the day marked the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. Technically most European countries celebrate on May 8th in their own countries. May 9th is the date when Russia celebrates (due to the time difference when the defeat was signed) and normally the whole world shares the celebration along with Russia at least out of respect.
Does NATO really exist? Seriously.
As the world gets closer to a new major war this question is worth asking.
Now, it may sound like a strange question… What do you mean with “does NATO exists?”, everyone knows it exists? It’s an official organisation. It does exist, right?
Well, yes, on paper. It exists as a structure, rather complicated structure but still, it’s there.
The confrontation between the West and Russia is a popular issue and we often hear people trying to analyze the situation that fail due to understanding two very important points:
There are no national elites on the West – they are a transnational.
The importance of conceptual power.
It’s 2015. The world has not ended yet.
2014 was rich in significant events and important changes. In this article we will make a brief recap of what happened in the world during the last 365 days.
In one sentence it was another year of controlled global chaos – many things happened, people get confused, plans change but overall it seems that what happened was well orchestrated or at least expected to a big degree.
However 2014 had some events that will probably be historical marks in the future. So lets recap them.
Be careful of what you are wishing for because it might come true. Europeans will learn it the hard way.
The top economic and geopolitical story of the last week is the cancellation of the South Stream gas pipeline project that had to directly connect Southeastern and Central Europe with Russia through the Black sea.
Apparently the project was closed by the Russian side after years of negotiations and preparation because they couldn’t come to an agreement with all of the participants from the European side. Instead Russia will build a gas pipeline to Turkey, signed and announced.
The economic sanctions against Russia are a popular issue. Officially, they are meant to punish Russia for the situation in Ukraine. This is pretty hypocritical as long as US private military companies are present in Ukraine (not Russian) and the Nazi junta is killing a lot of civilians in Ukraine’s south-east regions with the blessing of the West. The sanctions have a different goal which can be explained through the geopolitical interests of the elites with Euro-Atlantic orientation.
Something is rotten in the state of Ukraine. There are a lot of questions about the Malaysian jet that are pretty inconvenient both for the Kiev junta and for USA that support it. Despite the whole propaganda confusion, it is not hard to understand the discrepancy between USA’s accusations against Russia and the facts that were alleged.
